First Spring Drive

Because of oil leakages and intermittent aversion of the transmission to engage when it is cold I decided to change the fluid and oil filter. And because this should be done right after the famous Turbo-Hydramatic THM350 gets to its operating temperature, I utilized this fact for short-time-after-winter enjoy drive. And also because I'm not a selfish one I prepared for my intermittent visitors following vid.

While exchanging the oil we found out the most probable cause of the leakages - stripped and therefore loose thread. But we're tough boys and so we rebored it to a bigger european size M10 which simply means 10 milimeters (approx. 0.4 inches) diameter. After a week I checked the leakages again and it seems they are gone! You can check the screw size bellow.

For you, who don't know, how the after-winter garage may look like, check out these cool pics ;-)

New Headers, Mufflers & Horns

Exhaust System

Finally, I obtained new batch of Camaro stuff, more than required for my orangeade. Let me begin with the exhaust headers, pruchased on eBay (great source of such things btw), exactly Flowtech 31100FLT - ceramic coated. They should not rust, unless the coating is scratched and have good heat retention value (compared to steel).

Together with the headers I received also set of Summit fully welded mufflers. I choosed them because of reasonable price and good feedback from the Nasty Z28 community. Now I only need to get the rest pipe stuff somewhere.

Other Trifling Details

I'm sure that my kind reader have listened to the delightful sound of the horn originally delivered with the car. That embarrassing sound must come from some great Skoda 105. You could also notice that the RH (passenger) mirror does not look like the original. Yep, it's one several available tuning accessories of those old years Czech vehicles. That ugly Skoda's horn sound will not shock the public shined by beautiful muscle car anymore; 'cause I bought brand new dual-tone horns from the RockAuto Store. You could spot them on the previous pictures, if not, check them on following ones after the successful installation.

Bonus

There's a tradition that I add a bonus contribution after each post. There will be no change today, you can enjoy my professional garage doors thermal insulation together with the horns action movie.

And now we're done! After neverending and exhausting work we finished with a majestic final. If it's not a problem to spend some time here, please take a look at the following action movie:

Garage 4 & 1/4

Yep, the time when my Chevy Camaro will sight brand new beautiful house is coming. Maybe better said "new walls ol'round". Let's check all of those new features in following chapters.

Ceiling

After the easy
batten removage we had to replace old girder just because the wood-worm family thought to have a good appetite with it. You can see it as the first one from the right side (yeah, surprisingly!). As the next task we put a wooden grid underneath the girders which holds the OSB panels. They are easier to install and smell from natural resin compared to usual plasterboards. Finally the top of the upper ceiling part was pickled with some ugly stuf against once mentioned staff.

Walls'n'Doors

Because the original wall is pretty old and therefore full of stones, you can hardly find a brick. This situation forced us to use a middle-layer before we could apply a parging. This layer is consits of 1 piece of cement, 1 piece of water and 1 piece of sand. You can imagine it like some nice grey greasy mud. Thanks to this step the parging holds like a hell, even on the stones.

As a final layer we utilized an industrial gauze fabric sticked by a construction glue. I'm not going to watch hot-babes in some night channels on the plasma TV, so this is more than a sufficient solution. The last step which is still awaiting for the walls is the final paint and lighting installation.

As you probably noticed (I'm in doubts a little if you've went pass this article down here ;-), the old shiny doors were replaced with new ones. Just check the last photo today.

This is all folks today. We're going to move further next weekend, though thanks to my promptly style of writing articles you probably would not see anything new here, really, nothing! >-)

Garage, Episode Three

Just before beginning of the restoration it was needed to remove board ceiling. It had to be done in a cool way - nicely one plank by another, just to let the dirt fall into my face. It doesn't look that extremely demanding on the photos. Right, it was quite easier task to accomplish this than described in 2nd episode. Even so, I would evaluate it as "Glad to have this piece of sh.t done". Check following photos - from inside, outside and attic.

Garage, Episode Two

So, 2 months are gone and we've got here second episode of the garage reconstruction. Past the weekend I rubbished the coat and tear away the bottom of the ceiling. No cement works can produce in 5 years that amount of dust I did in 2 days. Fortunately some protective spectacles, gloves, hat or mouth-screen helped me to manage it. I do not cough or cry a mud, so it seems that they have proved good.
Following photos show the progress - for the first day I cleaned up the rest of the disordered stuff and begun with the rubbishment. Next day I finished it, teared away the roof bottom and all that debris was taken away.

Garage, The First Episode

If you are serious with your car you cannot leave it staying under open skies for sure. Also my sweetheart is sheltered from breeze, blizzards, cruel rainstorm and from red-hot sun too. Unfortunately the garage booth does not look very good because no man have touched its interiors for decades. The garage metamorphosed to a warehouse of types like "never know when you can use this" or "put it into the garage temporary".

Thanks to purchase of the Chevy things got moved. Firstly it's needed to sort and dump all that stuff like materials, chemicals and quality oil-waxed furniture. The photos are unfortunately taken recently and don't reflect the original state when I begun with the reconstruction.
